Motorola Mobility: new part of Google

Google has acquired one of the largest companies in the mobilephone market. That is Motorola Mobility. Does anybody have the idea what's the purpose of this purchase by Google?

Motorola Mobility: new part of Google

Hi Janajacobb!

Please read the following reasons below on why would Google bother to acquire Motorola.

1.Google wants to enter the Hardware business to compete with other giants- Microsoft and Apple. Motorola is an expert company in producing hardwares in massive numbers, something Google is not capable to do. Because of this the Android Operating System will have more chance to used by the market through Android phones specifically made by Motorola experts.

2. Motorola's 17,000 patents is a great reason why Google acquired Motorola. It could make Google stronger to fight the patent wars against other top companies

3. Acquiring Motorola enabled Google to prevent Apple's domination in the hardware business especially in the smartphone and tablet business.
