Is Audacity a malware/adware free application?

Hi,

I am an online transcriptionist and my company requires me to download a free software called Audacity. However, I am afraid that it might contain malware or adware that my current antivirus (Avast) will not be able to prevent. Will it be safe to download Audacity with my current antivirus?

Is Audacity a malware/adware free application?

Well avast is an exceptionally good antivirus. And I don’t think that Audacity will have viruses if you download it. By the way, it would have been better if you would have mention which operating system you are using.  Also you didn’t mention whether you are using a free version of avast or the full version. Full version avast will be able to track the virus and remove it but not the trial version. And if you think that avast doesn’t work well, try using avira. It is pretty good and I personally prefer it. Hope this information helps you.

Audacity is malware or adware free application and it is safe to download it anytime with any anti-virus.  It is a multiplatform, open source editor and completely free.  It is a trusted application and was developed by a not-for-profit volunteer group; anyone can use the source code anytime to study or use.   It has leaped to the top of the most downloadable audio editors in CNET Download.com with its clean interface, excellent features, and support for 32-bit floating point audio.  However, there are times that virus checkers would report false positives for the Audacity installer for Windows (.exe).  The reason for this is the installer is compressed.  It is recommended that you download the .zip file instead and check for viruses.

Audacity is a sound edition software, is a freeware but never misses a person that mod the software and make viruses, my solution is download the app form the official website:

this is a sure download virus and publicity free.
