I recently bought a printer, but I am unable to connect it to my computer. I want to take out a lot of prints, but the printer doesn’t seem to connect to the system. I don’t know how this peripheral work. Can anyone tell me how to make it work?

There are many possibilities in such a case. Firstly find out which type of printer do you have?

It can be a wireless or Bluetooth or USB. Now if it is wireless, then search for it on the designated network. For Bluetooth use the “add a device” and search for the printer on it (Make sure the printer is discoverable.) For wireless open your Wi-Fi and connect to the printer there.

Once connected, you can send a file to print and check the printer status from the printer and devices menu or the icon on the tray on the taskbar.
Make sure you calibrate your printer before using it.

If you have a new printer, you have to install its driver first before you can use it. Connecting it to your computer using the USB cable is not enough. You need to have the driver running on the computer to identify the device properly and make it running and do the printing.

Normally, when you buy a printer, there is a setup CD included in the package that you can use to install the printer on your computer. Just install that software on the CD and you should be able to print with your printer. On the other hand, if it doesn’t have a CD, you can always download the driver software from the manufacturer’s website.

If you have an HP printer, go to HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads. Here, enter your printer’s model number or serial number then click to search. You can find this code printed on the sticker either on the side or bottom of your device. You can also check it in the packaging of the product or in the manual, as usual.

Once you located your product, click it to go to the download page. There, your operating system should automatically be detected as shown in the page. If a different operating system is displayed, click to change then select your correct operating system and then download and install all available drivers and software for your device.
