I was waiting for a driver update for my Windows 7 machine, but to my disappointment, there was no such update scheduled in the immediate future. I was wondering whether it is possible to update the drivers manually. In particular, I want to windows update Bluetooth peripheral device driver. How to do this?

Yes. It is possible to update drivers on your computer manually. In fact, most of the time, people do this manually instead of relying on automatic updates. Now, there are two approaches when it comes to manually update your drivers. You can either do this yourself or install some third-party software to do this for you.

I will tell you the method to update the driver yourself. The first step is to find the latest version of the driver you want to upgrade and download it. Double click on the exe files to start the installation wizard and complete the installation. Now, go to driver manager, local Bluetooth peripheral device, right-click and click on upgrade driver software. Now, click browse the computer for software and enter the location where you installed the latest driver.

If you need to update the driver for your Bluetooth device, the best and easiest way is to get it from the manufacturer’s website. If you have a laptop or a branded desktop computer, download the driver from the manufacturer’s website. Check the following list:

• ASUS Download Center
• Intel Drivers & Software
• Acer Drivers and Manuals
• Toshiba Support
• Lenovo Technical Support
• Dell Drivers & Downloads
• HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads
• Fujitsu Support and Downloads

On the support page, enter your device’s serial number or model number then click to search. You can find the model number or serial number printed on the sticker located on the side or bottom of your machine. Once your product is located, click it to go to the download page. Select the drivers download tab or section. The page should detect your operating system automatically.

If the page shows a different operating system, click to change then select your correct operating system. Download and install all available drivers and software for your device particularly the Bluetooth driver.
