Query on how to reset smart hdd warning
S.M.A.R.T.(Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology), is a tool used by all leading hard drive manufacturers to preempt impending problems with the hard drives. SMART itself is not an error, just an indication that the hard drive might fail. It has loads of tools that it run when the system is powered on & if one or more of the tests fail, it will be reported as a SMART error. Hard drive manufacturers advise that you should backup your data and replace the drive as soon as possible.
There are a couple of programs that are available for download which can help you get rid of the error. In order to use these programs you would need an in-depth knowledge of how hard-drives & data is arranged on them. You would also need to have extensive knowledge of Hex numbering system. Even with these tools, it is not a guarantee that the message would go away and you might end up with a non useable drive.
Hope that answers your question.
