I have a Windows 10 PC, and recently I got this error code 0x80072efd. While searching online, I got to know that it is related to some network connectivity issue, and since I am not good at it can anyone suggest ways on how to solve it?
Error Code 0x80072efd, Information On It And How To Fix It?
This error code comes up when there are two main issues, network connectivity, and server timeout. The others are activated Windows, Windows update, time zone difference, Microsoft login.
The solutions for each of the above are:
Internet connectivity: manually, close all the wires correctly and check if the connections of your network cables are proper. Restart the router and connect it to your system. Make sure that all the settings are correct and you can even request the Microsoft community in case nothing above worked.
Activated Windows: if there is an inactive Windows key or file copies, then this error can occur. Go to Settings> update and security info> activation. This will show whether your key is registered and activated or not.
Time zone: if the time zone is not active, then this error can occur. If the internet follows another time zone, it doesn’t let the server to access any update and the store.
Microsoft login: If the store settings are initiated without logging in using your account, this error code can be displayed. Log into your account to fix this
Windows update: if the windows update service is not running, then this can occur. Go to task manager> services tab and check if the update service is running.
Error Code 0x80072efd, Information On It And How To Fix It?
You may receive error code “0x80072efd” when using the Windows Store on Windows 10. The message accompanying the error code may vary but the error code, most likely, will be one of the following:
- 0x80072EE7
- 0x80072EFD
- 0x801901F7
- 0x80072EFF
This error will prevent you from accessing the Windows Store. If you encounter this error, try clearing the Windows Store cache. Press the Windows key then type without quotes “cmd” in the search field. Right-click “cmd.exe” in the search results then select “Run as administrator” to launch an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type the following command then hit Enter:
WSReset.exe
Wait until the process is complete. When it is finished, close the command prompt then restart the computer. After booting, see if the Windows Store is working. If this doesn’t work, try to re-register the Windows Store. Repeat the same steps above to launch an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type the following command then hit Enter:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command “& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + ‘\AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}
Wait until the process is complete. When it is finished, close the command prompt then restart the computer. If this doesn’t work, try emptying the “SoftwareDistribution” folder cache. Again, launch an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type the following commands then hit Enter after each command:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop cryptSvc
net stop msiserver
Next, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\Windows.” Locate the folder called “SoftwareDistribution” then rename it to something like “SoftwareDistribution.old.” After this, navigate to “C:\Windows\System32.” Locate the folder called “catroot2” then rename it to something like “catroot2.old.” When you are finished, go back to the command prompt and run the following commands:
net start msiserver
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start wuauserv
When you are finished, restart the computer then try again.
