I am using Samsung DVD-RW with Windows 7 OS.
My problem is that, the DVD-RW is sporadically failed to read disks but could be solved by reboot, but eventually completely fails to read any disk. How can I solve the problem?
Fixing Combo DVD-RW Reading Failed
If your optical drive has a hard time reading discs or totally can’t read discs, it must have a dirty lens. It can be fixed by cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner. You can use the lens cleaner of your DVD player if you have one or just buy it from a local computer store.
Follow the instructions printed on the packaging of the lens cleaner to avoid damaging the lens. Once the lens is cleaned, the drive should be able to read discs again. If this doesn’t fix the problem, check the cables inside the CPU. Open the CPU case then remove all the cables from the optical drive. Next, connect the ribbon cable or data cable back.
For the power supply, use or plug the other power supply cable. After this, start the CPU again then see if it works.
