Restoring Corrupted OS in Windows 7
Hi, my laptop's OS has been corrupted. It runs in Windows 7. I wonder if restoring OS in Windows 7 is the same with restoring OS in XP?
I was advised to reformat the hard disk but it didn't work.

I have a problem very similar. My computer with Windows 7 operated normally until today. When she started, it appeared to start from the desktop Windows 7, but when I tried to click the Start button or on any desktop icon, it simply does not run.
Start restoring your OS by inserting the system repair disk or the installation disk of Windows 7 then restart your computer. Press down any key on your keyboard to go to the “Next” then on the prompt, select the “Repair your computer” located at the bottom left of the screen.
A box screen will display containing the options for “System Recovery”, then choose the button followed by “Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows, select an operating system to repair” now choose “Windows 7” then press down the “Next”
On the options of “System recovery” , tap on the option of “Command prompt”
Input this command bootrec.exe / FixBoot on the prompt field and press down “Enter”
Now the restoring process will begin, then restart your computer to see the changes.
Hello,
To solve your OS problem, you need to INSTALL the window 7 installer again to run repair and restore items. If this doesn't work, you need to reprogram it manually.
Window 7 is design to automatically installed the driver in your system.
Unlike XP, you need to MANUALLY add your system device to run its internet connection and run the program smoothly.
If your program OS is corrupted, the only thing you can do is to recover your documents. you need to have a DEVICE like PARTED MAGIC.
PARTED MAGIC is like an Operating System that can run without using any HDD. This tool usually runs in CD or installing it in your USB as a Bootable Device.
This way you can FIND and RESTORE your files before reformat/reprogramming it.
If theres any technician in your palace that are capable of doing this, you can contact them for proper installation.
You question was the difference. To tell you the windows 7 restoration compared to XP does not have a significant difference setting aside the process. But I am more concerned to your "foot note" if I may call it that way.
As you mentioned that the error still occurs even though you formatted your drive. There should be a serious problem in your laptop. As far as I have used it to repair serious error, the reformat is the best solution to every error I encountered if ever I have my data Backed – up.
In your case, the reformat did not work.
