I am unable to use Microsoft’s Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) as I am encountering a 0x80000171 error in Windows 10. I am not able to solve it. Please help me here.

You can solve the 0x80000171 error by following the methods given below –

Method 1

a. Press Windows + R.
b. Type dcomcnfg and hit enter.

c. Go to Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer-> DTC-> Local DTC.

d. Click on Action on the top menu bar.
e. Go to Properties.
f. Go to Security.

e. Select Network DTC Access.
f. Select Allow Inbound and Allow Outbound options.
g. Apply -> Ok.
h. Restart your device.
i. You will be able to do your work now.

Method 2-

a. Search “Allow an app through Windows firewall” in the start menu and open it.


b. Go to Change Settings.
c. Click on Allow another program.
d. Select Distributed Transaction Coordinator in the Exceptions tab.
e. Click OK.
f. These steps will solve your problem.
