My PC was running slow, and I took a look at the task manager. I found 2 WMI provider host processes were running and taking a lot of memory. What to do? I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a few days back.

If 2 WMI provider host processes are consuming a lot of memory, try the following methods to fix it –

Method 1

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Escape on your keyboard.

  2. Open resource monitor (look at the bottom).
  3. Right-click on Svchost.exe.
  4. Click on End Process.
  5. Restart your device.
  6. Your issue should not bother you.

Method 2

  1. Open Command Prompt as admin.
  1. Type exe/id PerformanceDiagnostic and press enter.
  2. After the process completes, restart your device.

Method 3

  1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
