Install an iPhone 3GS in Debian
In debian, you need library to meet dependencies so you can mount your iphone and ipod. It call libimodiledevice1.
But although you don't list your debian version or what kind of iphone you have, I give you links to add your library from debian squeeze to meet dependencies for mounting your iphone. Click on this link and download packages available for your debian linux.
To find out what linux debian system you use now, you can type this in your terminal:
$ uname -a
You can find similar problem with your case in this link and this link, which already solved in mount iphone.
