If you did it the wrong way I’m sure you won’t be able to recover any of the files you have deleted. If you don’t have any file recovery tool installed on your computer before it was deleted, don’t attempt to install a file recovery tool at this stage.

If you attempt to install a new file recovery tool after the files were deleted, there is no chance of recovering them. The new installation will overwrite the clusters that once occupied by the files deleted.

You can attempt to recover the files on another computer. Install a file recovery tool in another computer. Shutdown the computer after the installation. Go back to the computer where you want to recover the deleted files.

Shutdown the computer then remove the hard drive from the CPU. Connect the hard drive to the computer were you installed the file recovery tool. Start the computer.

The BIOS will automatically detect the new hard drive and will eventually install it. After Windows has booted, open the file recovery tool then scan the hard drive and attempt recovering the files that were deleted.
