As an architect, I utilize various tools and equipment that I’ve found helpful in streamlining my daily tasks. My life as an architect has been made more manageable and comfortable by the tools and gadgets I’ll share in this post, from working from home or while traveling to effectively resolving problems arising during construction.
1. 3D Scanner
After the scan is finished, I move the Leica BLK360 to a new location with connections to the first location visually and perform another scan. It enables the scanner and software to create a cohesive view of the space. The best part is that each scan includes a 360-degree photo of the area so I can review any details I missed when I get to the office.
2. A Wide-Angle Lens And A DSLR
A DSLR camera lets us share the world from our point of view, record moments and locations we’ve visited and cherished, and produce content to establish our brands. The Canon EOS 80D is the camera I’ve used, which is from their most recent model from 2010 and was recently upgraded.
3. VR Headset
We’ve created virtual renderings that let our clients move through a space, see around, and experience how the space would look in reality for forward-thinking clients with visionary and innovative projects.
4. Glowforge Laser Cutter
Not just because of the excellent physical machine but also because of the user-friendly interface, ongoing software development and updates, and the fantastic online community of laser cutting enthusiasts, the Glowforge laser cutter is one that I highly recommend to everyone.
5. Adjustable Desk (Sit Or Stand)
I find myself switching from sitting to standing at least once in two hours on days when I have so much going on that I can’t seem to leave my desk. I can focus my attention and get my thoughts back on track with this easy action. I lower the desk to a sitting position once I feel tired.
6. Yeti Or Zojirushi Travel Mug
The Zojirushi travel mug keeps beverages hot all day, which can be challenging for people who prefer to start sipping their preferred beverages after a few minutes. Long trips are made possible by this travel mug because, after about 30 minutes, my latte was still boiling.
7. Apple Ipad Pro And Apple Pencil Or Surface And Pen From Microsoft
An Apple iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil is one of my most valuable tools during the project’s design phase and construction. In a similar vein, among many other options, the Microsoft Surface and Pen are comparable substitutes if you prefer to use android- and Windows-based products.
8. Laptop
However, the laptop’s primary function is to allow users to work on the go and create Lumion Pro version 9 renderings. This graphics-based rendering program functions almost exactly like a first-person video game. As a result, it’s crucial to have the right kind of video card, processor, and RAM to effectively build and render models in the software.
9. Laser Measurer
The next best choice for field verification visits for those of us who can’t afford our 3D scanners is a laser measurer. I’ve used models made by Leica and Bosch. Because they have been so accurate and simple to use, I prefer the laser measurements made by these two businesses.
10. Portable Charger
It’s crucial to always have a portable charger for extended field trips, meetings, and travel because I’m constantly carrying around devices like my smartphone and tablet. There’s nothing worse than needing to make a conference call on a phone that’s almost out of battery or showing up to perform a punch list using Plan Grid on my iPad Pro and having less than 15% of the battery left.
