How to improve the RD Gateway

I am currently using windows 8 server and need users to access network from anywhere. How do I improve performance of RD Gateway?

How to improve the RD Gateway

Please describe in particular the performance problems you are having with RD Gateway. How many concurrent users do you need to support?

How to improve the RD Gateway

Hello Karamel,

The following steps would help you improve your RD Gateway's performance.

1. Tune the MaxloThreads and MaxPoolThreads.

MaxloThreads Default Value = 5

MaxPoolThreads Default Value = 4

2. Tune the RPC (Remote Procedure Call)

ServerReceiveWindow Default Value = 64kb

ClientReceiveWindow Default Value = 64kb

3. Monitor RD Gateway's data usage using these counters

Terminal Service Gateway*

RPC/HTTP Proxy*

RPC/HTTP Proxy Per Server*

Web Service*

W3SVC_W3WP*

Ipv4*

Memory*

Network Interface(*)*

Process(*)*

Processor Information(*)*

Synchronization(*)*

System*

TCPv4*

How to improve the RD Gateway

I found a download that describes how you will be able to fine-tune your Remote Desktop Gateway’s performance from a server computer running on Windows Server 2008 R2. The only problem I see now is that if you are using the same operating system on your server as with this one since you did not mention anything about your server computer’s operating system.

But since the Remote Desktop Gateway mentioned in here is similar to the one you have, this will surely help you and will give you an idea on how to improve your Remote Desktop Gateway’s performance. You can download it from Performance Tuning Guidelines: Windows Server 2008 R2. The download content is a document file [.docx] that describes several of the following:

• Performance Tuning for Remote Desktop Gateway;
• Performance Tuning for Remote Desktop Session Host [formerly Terminal Server];
• Performance Tuning for Active Directory Servers;
• Performance Tuning for Virtualization Servers.
