I have just upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. But my computer doesn't start up properly. It is restarted without going through my main window. How can I fix this problem?

Welcome to techyv.com the problem of your case is your direct to upgrade your system with a different platform of windows you can fix that by reinstalling Windows 7 you may need a bootable DVD installer of Windows 7.

The first thing you will do is put the DVD Windows 7 installer on your DVD drive.

Then press the reset button and keep on pressing the DEL or F1 or F2 either of those three buttons while your computer is starting where bios should appear it should look like this or whatever the look of your bios.
3. Then go to the boot tab and Set you’re DVD Drive to first boot and then exit and save the settings. When your computer next restart it boot your Windows 7 DVD disk just hit enter and Windows 7 have been loading its file just w8 and Click install until you get to this image below:
Chose your language and click next.
And click on the custom advance menu.
Then select a partition where you want to put your Windows 7 operating system but don’t format your drive so that your old files will be kept in one folder intact.
Then click next you will be prompted a message that you want to keep your files in one folder something like that and click ok then w8 until the installation is finished. After funny then there you go you can locate your old files in drive C: you can see a folder that name widows.old here is where your old file has been stored.

That problem can happen if the operating system is not installed properly. It can also happen if you performed an incorrect upgrade of your operating system. Generally, there is no straight path when upgrading Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows 7. Though you can install Windows 7 on your Windows XP computer, the process is totally different with upgrading.
If you want to replace your Windows XP and use Windows 7 instead, you need to perform a clean install of Windows 7 and not upgrade. Windows XP cannot be upgraded to Windows 7. Unlike Windows Vista which can be upgraded to Windows 7, Windows XP cannot.
To perform a clean install of Windows 7, you have to format your system drive (drive C), install Windows 7 on it using the Windows 7 setup disc, and then install every application you have. Basically, everything has to be done from scratch. It’s a lot of work but that’s the only way you can get Windows 7 from Windows XP.
