Dear Experts
I have a Sony Vaio laptop. I have observed that its battery’s wear and tear is too fast. The time it is giving now in full recharge is much lesser than it used to be a few months back. Is there any software to reduce the wear level of a battery?

Hi there user:
Here’s the link where you can download Battery Life Extender. http://batterylifeextender.software.informer.com/
Aside from downloading Battery Life Extender (software which can extend battery life), I recommend that you download VAIO Power Management, this is an application for your Sony VAIO which can switch off components for saving power. http://vaio-power-management.software.informer.com/
Hope these applications could help you.

Hello Smith Agail,
Battery life can be extended and well maintained if it is properly monitored and advanced power plan is used. You can do this by yourself by monitoring it and closing any unwanted applications.
-
Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when not need. It consumes a lot of battery.
-
Mute your laptop when it is not needed.
-
Close any extra apps to reduce pressure on your system.
-
Reduce your screen brightness. It plays a huge part in maintaining more battery life.
-
Unplug or remove any flash drive, portable drive or thumb drive when not used.
Now these are manual ways you can increase your battery life experience. If you are too lazy to do all these stuffs, then download Battery Care. It does all things, adjust brightness according to battery level, power management etc. Check out the Battery Care.
Hope it helps!

The life of a fully charged battery will depend on how you use it or how you use the device. If you play games on your laptop, it will surely drain the battery faster than normal. But if you’re only doing some typing like in Microsoft Office Word or browsing the internet, the battery is consumed at a normal rate.
But if you want to know the life of the battery in general, here’s an explanation about the lifespan of a laptop battery. The total lifespan of a laptop’s battery or any other battery depends on how you use your computer or device. The more often you charge, the faster its lifespan will decrease.
All rechargeable batteries have limited lifespan and its average lifespan is determined by the cycle count which is then equivalent to charge and discharge. In a laptop computer, the average lifespan of a Li-Ion battery is about 700 to 800 cycles and normally lasts around two (2) to three (3) years.
According to Apple, you can allow your laptop to be connected to the charger even when the battery is full. This will not damage the battery. In this state, the laptop will run on AC power instead of battery. But you need to let your laptop run on battery at least once a month to allow the battery to discharge normally.
The idea here is simple: when the battery is charging and it reaches the full charge capacity, there is a mechanism in the laptop’s power supply that will stop the charging of the battery and shifts to AC power. When the laptop is running on AC power, the battery will remain at its level without discharging therefore preventing the cycle count from decreasing and prolonging its life.
To extend the life of your battery, try following this method to save the cost of buying new batteries. On the other hand, if the battery is not charging, remove the battery then connect the charger. Try to turn on your laptop. If the laptop turns on, you have a broken battery. Just replace the battery with a new one.
There is no software that can extend the life of a battery, unfortunately.
