In a recent article that post in one of the blog about technology, Tom Tom announced that they will be official partner in iOS 6 Maps.
Is this will be the first mapping application that will be produced by Apple?
Do you think this will be great competition of Google when it comes to Mapping Service?
Tom Tom as Partner in iOS 6 Maps
Google Maps had been powering up the iOS devices since 2007 but it is now replaced with iOS 6 Map, their first in-house mapping application. Since 2009, Apple has been obtaining companies that are experts in mapping applications and technologies. Apple bought Place Base in 2009, Poly9 in 2010 and C3 Technologies in 2011. This year, Apple selects Tom Tom as their primary iOS 6 Maps provider. Obviously, Apple has been working on an in-house mapping solution for a few years to replace Google Maps.

Vector based graphics – Google introduced this for Android in 2010
-
Real-time traffic information and turn-by-turn navigation – Google included this capability for Android in 2009.
-
Local information for more than 100 million businesses worldwide
-
Siri integration – Voice Command Navigation in Google
