An error message reading "Rtvscan.exe application error" keeps flashing on my screen.
Could this be a virus or malware? My anti-virus software is updated.
Please help as this is bothering.

Rtvscan.exe application error appearing on the screen.
Rtvscan.exe is a process of the Symantec Internet Security Suite real-time scanning feature. its purpose is to detecting malicious code which combined with possible viruses and other malware processes. the rtvscan.exe file will automatically execute files entered to your systems. immediately notifying the user about any files it detects. tell me did you do any modification to your system by removing your virus scanner or delete it manually ? if it is the case you may need to deactivate or delete current rtvscan.exe.
to manually remove rtvscan. exe just go to this link and download the repair tool , then install and open it. it will automatically fix your error. that's the easiest method

The “Rtvscan.exe” file is part of the real-time scanning feature of Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Internet Security suite. The program starts automatically with Windows and runs in the background. If you are seeing this error when you start the computer and you are using a Symantec product, it means the program is not functioning correctly and has a problem.
To fix the problem, try reinstalling the product. Download Norton Removal Tool and run it. This tool can be used to completely remove a failed installation of Norton or a damaged product. If your Symantec product is working properly before, this tool will help you fix the problem. The tool will remove installations of all Norton products from your computer from 2003 and up.
In case your version can’t be removed by this tool, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller instead and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your Symantec product among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later.
When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then restart the computer. After booting, download the free version of CCleaner and install it. Once installed, start CCleaner and clean your system.
