You want to buy a laptop you said. Actually the word laptop means something elaborate. You have to specify what you want to buy; Notebook or Netbook. Also what is your budget? For office work I think Netbook are better. These are small kind of laptop. It can be easily carried for their small size.
On the other hand Notebook are large with many functions included. In netbook sometimes it becomes difficult do some kind of office work. If you want to do programming or other kind of simulation job like ansys, you must buy a highly configured notebook. Otherwise buy a netbook. All the brand of market I prefer ASUS is the best among them.

Those are the Netbooks, ultra portable laptop, all-purpose laptop and desktop replacement laptop. And it really depends on what kind of user and purpose you have. Toshiba is a good brand as they are the first brand to have a laptop. I have been using Toshiba A200 for some years now. The only problem I had is it overheats due to a large amount of data and processes that I usually run in a day.Â
Other things to consider are the speed of the processor, how much RAM it has, and the hard disk space. Because the new operating system requires at least 16 GB of hard disk space and 1-2 GB of RAM.
