How do I install Windows XP driver software in Windows 7?

If my hardware does not have a Win 7 driver but has an XP driver, will it work if I install the driver and software in Win XP compatibility mode on my Windows 7 laptop

How do I install Windows XP driver software in Windows 7?

 

Each Operating System has its own specified set of drivers. All drivers will not work on all O S.

The device drivers are functionalities that the OS is making itself aware about the device that is connected to the computer. As such the driver has to be compatible to the OS as it has to understand whether the operating environment is XP or Windows 7.

As for example, the person talking to another one should first know whether he understands English or French.

The remedy is downloading a set of drivers for the device compatible with Windows 7 and then tries again. This process should continue for any OS.

How do I install Windows XP driver software in Windows 7?

Yes, Follow the steps below to install win xp driver in win 7.

1. Click on Start > right click on Computer > Click on Manage option

Now select Device manager on the left side menu.

Or

1. Press Windows Button + R on the keyboard and type devmgmt.msc in the Run Window

2. Right click on the devices for which the drivers are not installed and Select Update Driver Software.

3. Select the second option Browse my Computer for driver software.

4. Browse for your Windows XP driver software for that device.

5. Click on the file and Click on OK. (If you have downloaded the file make sure you have unzipped it)

6. Click on Next and wait till the driver is installed.

7. Close all the windows and Restart your PC

If you have internet connection update your drivers to Windows 7 version. To do this repeat till step no. 2 and select the first option Search automatically for update driver software.

Do not forget to restart your PC once done.
