The auto hide feature on windows 7 will cause it to hide and restore immediately there is no way to set a default amount of time before this happens.  Also I have found that there seems to be a bug that will actually prevent the toolbar from hiding or reappearing when desired.

Additionally I have attached instructions on how to Auto hide the toolbar.

1. Right click on your taskbar.

2. Select Properties

3. Click on the checkbox Auto hide the taskbar

4. Click Apply

5. Click Ok

The above steps will cause the taskbar to hide automatically when not in use.

Hello Olivia,

  • Right click the taskbar.
  • Click properties.
  • Click Auto hides the task bar.
  • Click ok.

By choosing this option, the whole taskbar will be hidden but it will pop up when you drag the mouse to the edge of the screen where the task bar is located.

Thanks.
