Oh! I also had the same problem with my webcam. Can you tell me the make and model of your webcam?
Â
For some troubleshooting steps, you can follow these before purchasing a new one.
Â
Try updating the drivers of your webcam.
          Â
        1. Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager
        2. Drop down the category "Imaging Devices"
        3. Right-click on your webcams listing
        4. Click Update Driver and Search Automatically
        5. Drop down the category "Sound Video and Game Controllers"
        6. Right-click your webcam's mic listing
        7. Select Update Driver and Search AutomaticallyÂ
Â
Â
If you found the updates but still the issue continues, you can go ahead in uninstalling and installing your webcam.
Â
        1. Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager
        2. Drop down the category "Imaging Devices"
        3. Right-click on your webcams listing
        4. Select UninstallÂ
        5. Drop down the category "Sound Video and Game Controllers"
        6. Right-click your webcam's mic listing
        7. Select UninstallÂ
        8. Unplug your webcam
        9. Restart your PC
        10. Plug your webcam back into the USB port
Â
Â
Before deciding to buy a new webcam, can you try connecting your webcam to another laptop or pc? Some webcams like Logitech have autodetect found on their respective Support Pages online.
Â
Â
I hope this helps. Please send me updates if the issue still continues.Â

Camera software for Windows 7
Hello Martha,
Try the following and see if you will manage to resolve that issue:
-
First, you will need to try putting your webcam in a different USB – port.
-
You will also need to try uninstalling a driver for a more recent model of webcam.
-
And then try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Windows 7 driver for that model of webcam.
-
Also try updating with windows update. If it fails try updating manually and see if the camera will be detected.
-
After that try doing an uninstall for the webcam and after that start on clean boot
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Carl
