What risk management startegy is in place to deal with zero-day attacks?

Several disaster striking virus like the Shamoon , Flame etc have targeted the energy sector and have caused crippling consequences. What could be a risk management strategy for such critical industries to ensure that there is better defense strategy in place in case of future attacks? Can we eliminate zero day attacks such as the ones above?

What risk management startegy is in place to deal with zero-day attacks?

The zero day attacks can be prevented by companies and can make secure themselves by taking some precautions and measures.

** Good preventive measures should be implemented like enabling firewall, keeping antivirus updated.

** Make company as Real-time protected by implementing protocols.

** The connections which are connected to the company should be minimum as per needs.

Apart from these measures, the port knocking system has to be implemented which provides effective security.
