Careto is special malware discovered by Kaspersky in 2014 and the according to the sources the creators are spanish speaking. Careto means the mask in Spanish. The main targets of this malwares are government organisagtions, refineries, Embassy offices, etc., The main aim behind the creation of Careto is to steal VPN configurations, important office data,RDP files,etc., Additionally Careto has been built up with a good moular system i.e it supports plugins and configuration files which helps makes it multifunctional.The operators can also upload additional modules whenever they want This malware has attacked more than 31 countries world wide.

Careto virus has a malicious code running at the very beginning of the loading of an operating system, which allows the code to take control and compromise the security of the operating system before it even starts. This makes it to have a potential of a deadly weapon. It is described as the most advanced global cyber espionage operations up to this date. Also it has been called as a highly sophisticated.
