MacAfee 2012 total protection error

I purchased the 2012 version of McAfee Total Protection and uninstalled the older version.

However during the installation process I encountered the error message below.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Runtime Error!

Program C++

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

MacAfee 2012 total protection error

Hi there,

Here are some basic steps you can try:

1. Reboot your computer

2. Make sure to log in as an administrator

3. Go to your local disk (C:) Program Files and make sure that all McAfee folders and files have been totally uninstalled

4. Make sure that you do not have any other security software that might create a conflict

5. Reinstall the software
