The NI 488 2 2 8 installation has failed

Greetings everyone.

During the installation of National Instruments driver, an error code suddenly popped-up with this message:

The “NI-488.2.2.8” installation has failed with the following error:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Continue?

I have no idea what is going on?

Can someone please help me find a solution for this?

The NI 488 2 2 8 installation has failed

Hi there Carol T Mack,

 

There are no known issues with the installer, so it must be permission problem or something's blocking the installation.

 

The first thing to do is to try installing the application as an administrator. To do so, right click on the installer and select 'Run as administrator' from the options. In case you are using an older version of Windows, such as XP you will need to relog as an admin user and then perform the installation.

 

If you still can't install the software, you will need to disable your antivirus and firewall temporarily until the installation is finished. To do so, just right click the antivirus icon in your taskbar and select disable. Depending on the antivirus you are using you will be asked to confirm and to add time for how long the antivirus should be disabled. 

 

Once the antivirus is disabled, install your software and enable the antivirus again.
