How do I get my Mac to work after forgetting password?

How do I retrieve the lost password of my Mac? I am trying to access my Mac with the password I use in the set up, but the system denied my access repeatedly. I think maybe someone change the initial password. I have tried the procedure on the Apple support page, but it is not working. What other ways are available for accessing the Mac without the password?

How do I get my Mac to work after forgetting password?

Follow the below procedure.

Boot to the recovery from the original drive by pressing Command-R during the startup process. Let  it go to the keys.

When the system boots. Click on Utilities on the Apple menu and choose Terminal.

On the terminal prompt, type "passwordreset"

Then choose the reset utility, which allows you to select a drive, a user, then a new password.

After saving, restart the system.

And it is done.
