The internet world is a complex world. I wonder how they create browsing? What is the difference between http:// and https://?

Hi,

Lot of web sites begins with http:// That’s mean “Hyper Text Transfer Protocol”.

This is the protocol used to allow you to communicate with the web site.

But https:// stands for “Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure”. They did it for our security. It means that information exchanged between you and a web site is encrypted and cannot be accessed by someone illegally who might want to electronically eavesdrop when you type a credit card number, password, a social security number or other personal information.

Most web sites are not https://, but when you click a link to make purchase, many of them will direct you a https:// site.

The thing they did for your protection.

The main difference of the two protocols “http://” and “https://” is all about security. The letters “http” stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol and the other one, “https”, stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure. HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the internet or the World Wide Web. This is the standard way of getting information from the web.

This is the standard protocol used when accessing a website and it is supported by all websites. HTTP acts as a request-response protocol between a client and a server. For example, let’s put a web browser as the client and the program running on a computer that hosts a website as the server.

The client sends an HTTP request message to the server and the server on the other hand, that gives resources such as HTML files, will return a response message to the client. The response of the server includes completion status information regarding the request as well as requested content. This is how the web browser and the website exchanges information using the standard HTTP protocol.

The HTTPS, on the other hand, is the secured version of the standard HTTP. The information being exchanged in this type of protocol is encrypted and is hard to be intercepted by intruders. This is the protocol used when doing online banking and online shopping or anything that has to do with the money.
