I have installed VLC player as I heard that it is the most versatile media player that can be obtained for free. First of all, I would like to know if that is true. On another note, having download VLC, I have a dated system and I tried to play HD videos but was unable to do so. I read somewhere that the processor and ram was lacking. Is that really true?

No, live streaming depend upon your internet speed not on ram or processor. Internet connection speed plays a vital factor in the quality of video. A computer with 1.6 GHZ processor and 1GB RAM is enough to watch online videos with reasonable quality.

For video quality most important is an OS video card or video chip. Upgrade your graphic card for better video quality.
