Wait for Windows to Configure MS Office Gathering Required Information
Hi
Initially this problem occurs due to antivirus program so it is necessary to uninstall an turn off its services and then try to install office 2010.
Another option for solving this;
Select run form start menu
Write the following commands
“Reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftoffice14.0wordoption/v NoReReg/t REG_DWORD/d 1 “ then Enter.
“Reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftoffice14.0Exceloption/v NoReReg/t REG_DWORD/d 1 “ then Enter.
“Reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftoffice14.0Accessoption/v NoReReg/t REG_DWORD/d 1 “ then Enter
These are the registry keys and it required above modification.
Once you follow above commands then try to open the target office applications and install it.

I do not think that is an error but just step that happens unless the process goes on for a long time without proceeding to the next step. You will therefore need to give the installation some patience because it is important that every procedure must be followed so that the application will not end up malfunctioning after you have installed it on the system.
In case the process goes on for long then you will need to check the installation CD. In case it has some dirt that is accumulated on it that is preventing the DVD drive from reading the data on it, then you will need to clean the installation CD using a clean soft piece of cloth by gently wiping the dirt off. The problem may also need to be with the DVD drive and therefore you will need to check that out.

Hello Cionaodh,
There are several possibilities why this error happens,
It might happen because your antivirus interrupting the installation process, or it might happen because there is an older version of office that is
Not installed correctly.
What you need to do is uninstalling everything using software remover such as revouinstaller and you also need to remove everything related to installation
Of the Microsoft office which not installed correctly (Interrupted).
Finally after removing everything, do restart your computer and try installing the office again. Before doing anything above, I recommend you to create
Backup so you can restore your system if anything wrong. It's always better to have a backup plan.
Good luck
