How can I convert windows live movie maker finished (WLMM) file into AVI converted file?
Do I need to use a specific converter software?
If so, where can I find a proper software to convert it to AVI?
Windows Live Movie Maker File Conversion
Dear Burton Tag, I have read your problem.
WLMP file is not a video file; it’s a project file on which you are working. These files can be exported to . WMV files. To do so, please follow these steps:

Click on “File menu” in Windows Live Movie Maker.

Now click on “Open project”, to open Windows Live Movie Project file.

Then click on “Save movie” to save WLMP as WMV file. Output file can be saved as high definition (1080p), high definition (720p), Widescreen (480p) or standard definition.
For better understanding see the following picture.
Now that you have saved your project file as WMV movie, time to convert WMV to AVI.
To do so, you just need a converter such as “PavtubeVideo Converter” which is available for Windows XP, Vista and 7.

Windows Live Movie Maker File Conversion
The WLMM file (*.wlmm) that you have is the project file format of Windows Live Movie Maker which contains the raw or unedited format of the video. You cannot convert this file into the AVI format. You have to save the video first in Windows Live Movie Maker so you can convert it to AVI. By default, Windows Live Movie Maker saves the video in WMV format (*.wmv).
In Windows Live Movie Maker, open your project then under “Finish Movie” click “Save to my computer.” Select a folder where you want to save the output video then select a quality for your video. Click “Next” then wait while the video is being saved. When it is finished, you will have the video in WMV format.
