The accelerometer of my Samsung phone is not rotating when I rotate the phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8500 Wave that has the Hummingbird chipset and an upgraded Bada OS 2.0. Ever since upgrading to the new OS, the accelerometer has stopped functioning like it's in lock mode or something. Is this a hardware problem?
There are few things you should check before blaming the hardware. Personally, I don't believe it's a hardware problem since the problem started after changing the OS.
First of all, please check if your autorotate is ON. Sometimes freshly installed OS doesn't turn the autorotation on so the accelerometer doesn't respond.
If it's turned on, check your Launcher settings and eventually restore them to default.
Another thing to try is to wipe the data cache.
And the last thing to do, if nothing else helps is to factory reset your phone.

Now, if you have a problem with your phone’s accelerometer, try factory resetting your phone. Press Volume Up and Power button simultaneously to reset.
Another way is to enter without quotes “*2767*3855#”. You can also go to “Menu,” “Settings,” and then “Reset.” See if this works. Note: before doing factory reset, remove your SIM card and microSD card.
