Pendrive preventing the Startup of laptop

I tried to turn on my laptop today and panicked when I was faced with a black screen. I started to restart and try everything possible. Then I noticed that I had kept my pen drive inserted in the laptop. When I removed it and restarted the laptop. Everything went fine. Can anyone explain to me what happened?

Hi Susan,

 

The problem might be with the booting selection made in the BIOS settings. If the priority is given to the USB drive and there are no appropriate OS files to be loaded from the pen drive, then this might lead to problems. It is advisable to check the priority mentioned in the BIOS boot order settings.

Switch on the computer and while the OS is loading, press F2 to enter the BIOS setup menu to determine the priority.
