Can anyone tell me what exactly is this ARM based tablet? Who all manufactures develop these tablets? Are there any existing tablets with this feature?

What is ARM based tablet

ARM is a processor which comes for most of the tablets that come into the market. Lot of tablets that are releasing these days are going to have the ARM based processor only. Microsoft is also trying to use the same kind of processor in its upcoming tablets. This processor comes with lot of good features and clock speed and processing speed is also good. The Cortex A5 which is one of the low power consumption processor that is released by ARM. Cortex A8 is one more processor which gives good media performance. These processors come in both single core and even in dual core also. It is suggestible to use a tablet which comes with ARM based processor.

What is ARM based tablet

The term “ARM” refers to the processor that runs the device and it means “Advanced RISC Machines”. This processor is one of a family of CPUs based on the RISC architecture or Reduced Instruction Set Computer developed by Advanced RISC Machines.

This type of processor is designed to perform smaller number of types of computer instructions so that they can operate at a higher speed performing more millions of instructions per second or MIPS. They produce both 32-bit and 64-bit RISC multi-core processors.

By removing unneeded instructions and optimizing pathways, RISC processors provide outstanding performance at a fraction of the power demand of Complex Instruction Set Computing devices or CISC. ARM processors are broadly used on consumer electronic devices like tablets, Smartphones, multimedia players, and other mobile devices like wearables. They require fewer transistors because of their reduced instruction set allowing a smaller die size for the integrated circuitry or IC.
