Hello to all,
I am presently using an older version of AVG antivirus.
Last night, while surfing through the net, I found a latest version of AVG, which was free.
Now, I want to replace my older version of AVG with this new version, but my system is not permitting me to do so.
Each time I try to load the new version, I get an error saying: 'Error code oxcoo70643', which says they cannot remove existing version.
It is creating a hindrance in the installation of the new version of AVG.
Can anybody help me in solving this issue?
Looking forward to your answers.
Thanks in advance.
Unable to install the latest version of AVG antivirus
Dear Halin dan, I have read your query.
You are getting this error because your previous installation is having conflict with new version and is not permitting to install new one. Are you sure that you are using Administrator account?
Right click on AVG installer and run as Administrator, it may rectify your problem. If that does not help, then make sure to uninstall previous version, to able to install newer version. You can manually remover your previous installation through add and remove programs from control panel.
However, the best way to uninstall your previous version is by using an uninstaller, such as AVG Remover for instance, provided by AVG Technologies for this specific purpose. As it will also remove registry entries related to previous installation so there will not be a problem reinstalling your newer version of AVG. After removal of previous installation, you should be able to install newer version. Depending on your windows version there are links for both 32 and 64 bit:
32bit http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/avgrem/avg_remover_stf_x86_2012_2125.exe
64 bit http://af-download.avg.com/filedir/util/avgrem/avg_remover_stf_x64_2012_2125.exe
Hope it will help.
Unable to install the latest version of AVG antivirus
If you can’t delete it using AVG removal tool, you can delete the AVG installed to your computer manually.
If you are not familiar for deleting installed program manually you may want to read the answer below.
From this answered question
If you cannot follow and not capable to do that you can try to use the Revo Uninstaller, it will remove and will clear out all registry entries, It will show you folders to be deleted and make sure that you will choose folders that associated to AVG.
After that you can now install the new version of AVG.
Good luck.
