What is yellow light of death?

Yellow light of death was popular during the PS3 gaming years. What is the meaning of yellow light of death? How is it caused in the PS3s? Will this problem be seen on PS4 as blue light of death or anything else? Do XBOX gaming consoles feature such kind of error?

What is yellow light of death?

Hi Patricia,

 

Yellow light of Death can be described as a light that is visible when PS3 Games Console experiences a complete Hardware failure of any type. The system gets turned off and cannot be powered on again without fixing the entire system.

This is mainly due to CPU failure relating to bad soldering process. This issue is prevalent among launch PS3s, but newer PS3s have gone "YLOD" as well.It is similar to the Red Ring of Death experienced by Xbox360 console.
