Norton Antivirus 2011 scan error

Hi everyone, I’m using Norton Antivirus 2011 on my Windows Vista OS and until now I have had no problems. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve last made a full scan so I tried to do it now, but it failed. The message that popped-out was this:

Full System Scan

Error During Scan

Results Summary

Total items scanned: 0

Total security risks detected: 0

Total security risks resolved: 0

Total security risks during attention: 0

What could be causing this problem?

Norton Antivirus 2011 scan error

Hi Henry L,

            Your problem seems that your one of your Norton Antivirus Applications has not been functioning properly. As you can see it cannot start the “Virus Scan” process. Most probably it is the cause of such a malware that has infected the internal applications of Norton Antivirus itself. It’s not functioning because it might not have been updated since last two weeks as you said.

Following are recommendations required to get rid of this error.

            *Make backup of your personal data in your primary drive and secondary also. ( Because your computer might be at risk )

• Turn on the windows automatic updates
• Update the Norton Antivirus virus database
• Restart the system and try to start the antivirus again and try to run the full scan again
• If the problem persists then you must uninstall the Antivirus and reinstall a new copy of Antivirus because now if the antivirus is still not in functioning position then surely it is infected and it can also infect your computer’s application integrity.

Hi Henry,

This problem could be as a result of the updates you lately performed on your computer, or otherwise the installation of your Norton internet security is corrupt. So I will suggest that you try restoring your system to a status before you performed the update and see if the problem will be resolved.

To restore your system to a previous state, just go to start and from the list of programs, locate system restore and click on it. Choose the restore point, then restore.
