BIOS settings changed itself, what can I do next?

I have a PC and I have installed Windows 7 on it. I use my PC to boot Linux OS live using CDs and DVDs so I generally need to go to the BIOS settings in order to change the first boot device to CDDVD. How can I save the settings of BIOS? Simply selecting 'Save and Exit' isn't working.

Yes, that’s the only way you can save the changes to your BIOS settings and after selecting “Save and Exit” the change you made should be saved and applied. What you are saying is not possible. After selecting “Save and Exit”, the new settings should be saved. The only time that the settings can’t be saved is when the CMOS battery is low.

But even if the battery is low, you should still be able to save your settings because you are continuously on AC power. The settings will only be removed when the computer is disconnected from the AC power and all settings will go back to default. That is if you have a low CMOS battery.

I think you only made a mistake when you change the boot sequence on your BIOS. When changing the boot sequence in the BIOS, select your CD or DVD drive as the first boot option then select your hard drive as the second boot option. Once these options are set, select “Save and Exit” and then boot your computer using the Linux Live DVD.
