Problems with the external wifi adapter on Ubuntu

I have a Wi-Fi adapter but it does not do anything when i connect it to my computer via the USB port. Since I have no internet on my desktop, i cannot install a wireless adapter. This is a netgear wireless adapter and is there a way that i can get it to work on my Ubuntu OS without having another internet connection?

Problems with the external wifi adapter on Ubuntu

A Wi-Fi adapter is used to connect your computer to a Wi-Fi network or to a Wi-Fi hotspot. When you are connected, you can browse the internet and surf different websites. A Wi-Fi adapter will not immediately create an internet connection when you connect it to your computer or will automatically connect you to the internet.

Its job is to search or make a connection between your computer and a Wi-Fi network. But to be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network, you need to search for nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. With your Wi-Fi adapter, you can use it to search for nearby Wi-Fi hotspots and possibly establish a connection. When a Wi-Fi network is found, you need to connect to it manually.

An alert is displayed on your system tray that there is a nearby Wi-Fi network. Just click on the message to go to the Wi-Fi section and then select the network you wish to connect to. You can also use your USB Wi-Fi adapter to create your own Wi-Fi hotspot. Ask your network provider how to start your own Wi-Fi.
