For example, you are the system admin for your company. The company’s network consists of a single Active Directory domain. You install an Active Directory Certificate Services or an ADCS on a computer which is running on a Windows 2008 server. You have the AD CS set as an enterprise certification authority (CA). Now, you’d like to be an online responder who will provide certification revocation data to clients. You install the IIS and online responder service on a Windows 2008 server. Then, you test the responder. However, it did not function as expected. What should you do then to make sure the Online Responder works properly?

Hi there Trish Martin,

Before installing the online responder we must consider some important things,

1st install the ISS before the Online Responder is installed if not correct configuration will not be adopted by system. It can be installed automatically when installing online responder.

2nd Must configure on CA and auto enrolment for issuing an OCSP. (Should be done in the computer which the online responder is installed)

3rd Then we must include the URL of the online responder in AIA (the URL will be used to verify the certificate status)

I think with this problem there might be a need to reconfigure the software again, you can get step by step instructions here,

After configuring it and may be doesn't function again, you can try troubleshooting it to try and cancel any persisting errors.To do this, get this troubleshooting guide here,
