There are a lot of things to consider in optimizing your computer for a faster performance. Please check if you have try Cleaning up disk error, run check disk, remove temporary files, run the disk cleanup, optimize your data, run the disk defragmenter. These are the basic steps to consider. The next thing to do is to check your computer for possible virus, spyware or malware threats. Scan with your antivirus and remove if there is any virus. This may be the cause why you cannot start any program on a normal basis.
You can also check on how much RAM (Random Access Memory) do you still have. Just right click on My Computer and then select Properties. In there you can see the amount of RAM next to the CPU speed. If you found that you only have less than 1GB of RAM, then that is probably the reason of your PC's slow performance. Close all other programs running in the background. Just click on the Start > Run and then type msconfig to open the System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab and then untick the check boxes that you don't want to start when starting Windows. Just be careful on disabling programs and not to select important ones.
Dear Rahulrahul,
As you are using window XP and you system is old. What I feel is that you have it done any defragmenter or you can remove unused programs and other way is to check for hard disk drive errors:hard disk drive and improve performance try to remove all unnecessary software.
Many software are unnecessary you can check this in your uninstall manger.there are many software that you can use to find error in the registry. You can get free option by using scan disk. Hope this will definitely help you.

Hello Dear,
It seems that you have not performed defragmentation in a long time, so you are having this problem.
When we copy files to a hard disk or install any software, the files save anywhere on the disk where the system detects free space. It does not save files normally, so I suggest you perform defragmentation. It will boost the speed of your computer. Thanks.
