Regarding to your questions, since you’re talking about Ph.D, the best area for that is supervising. It’s because you only supervise the research or the output in all aspects, either networking or programming. 

 

Projects in networking and programming give a hands-on activity or experience to find out and absorb the course materials that being taught.
