I bought a new Prolink PRO2401TW 24". My operating system I am using is Windows 7. I don’t have any problems with this monitor and computer. Recently 2 days ago and today, after booting and try play sound and movie the screen will turn off. I can still hear the sound though! What could be causing this problem? Is there any problem with my monitor or with my video card? Can you show me how to solve this permanently? Thank you very much

There are few steps that you can try yourself, before seeking for technical assistance.

First verify the proper connection of the power cable & ROM and check if the problem is solved.

If no, scan the system for viral attacks since it can also cause this issue.

Also try resetting BIOS settings to default.

Try connecting another monitor if available. If the issue persists, there can be a problem in power, system board or display.

If the other monitor did not have the issue, there may be a problem with the capacitors. So, try adjusting the brightness to the minimum level possible. If this also brings no result, check if the capacitors are having bulging tops instead of being flat where you would have to go for a replacement.

Further you can try replacing the inverter of the monitor.

If your monitor suddenly turns black, check its connection. See if the video cable of the monitor is plugged firmly or securely to the video port at the back of the CPU. Also, check if the monitor is plugged in properly to the AC outlet. A loose connection in these two parts can make your screen black. See also if your screen displays a message.
If you see something like “No signal”, it means the video cable of the monitor is disconnected from the video port. So, check if the cable is unplugged from the port. On the other hand, if the cable is plugged in properly to the video port but you see “No signal” displayed on the screen, it is a problem with the video card.
In this case, try first updating the video card driver and see if this fixes the problem. If this doesn’t work, connect the monitor to another computer and see if the problem follows. If the monitor is working there but not on your computer then you need to replace your video card.
But if the monitor is also not working well on the other computer, bring it to an electronic service center to get it serviced. It needs to be checked and repaired.
