What is Windows 8 Secure Boot?

Hello Bob,

The windows 8 secure boot is a hybrid approach that has been proposed in many ways by Linux SUSE. It is a proposition to a hybrid approach between what has already been done between the Linux Ubuntu version as well as Fedora.

It is claimed to be a technology that will make it extremely difficult for intruders to conceal a rootkit in the boot chain, and at the same time it will be able to establish a single root of trust. SUSE has got plans to use the shim loader that was originally developed by Fedora. It is simply a  smart solution that prevents several nasty legal issues, and makes it simple when it comes to the certification steps.

What is Windows 8 Secure Boot?

Secure boot is a way to keep off unauthorized softwares and Operating systems from starting when the computer starts up.

It is an element by UEFI( Unified Extensible Firmware Interface ) replacing old PC's BIOS.

Its advantage lies in the fact that UEFI will check the boot loader before loading any program thus make sure that it is signed by microsoft. This will prevent Malicious software from taking over the boot process

What is Windows 8 Secure Boot?

It generally stops unauthorized OS and software from opening during startup. It is a feature that is enabled by UEFI that replaces BIOS. It stops your PC from loading an OS that has no sign from the publisher such as OEM, and that signature will be added to your firmware. When you use an x86 Windows 8 PC, you can sign your own OS such as LINUX custom builds or you can also disable this feature entirely. But when using a Windows 8 ARM PC, both options are available.
