The shared and non shared data in the kernel structure will be manipulated through the coordination of the UNIX activities where it passes to the Windows NT between the kernel I/O components.Â
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these approached?Â
Please discuss it thoroughly for the benefit of all users.Â
Thank you so much.
Please educate me about Kernel structure?
Hello Priscilla,
Most operating system's main component is the Kernel. It is actually the bridge between the data's actual processing that is done in hardware level and applications. One of its advantage is it manage the resources of the system between the communication of the hardware and software components. Even if kernel is just a basic component or structure of the operating system, it provides low level of abstraction level which most applications controls its functions.
At some point, Kernel structures or methods have significant disadvantage. It has an scalability problem in some large numbers of data points. Like I mentioned at the top, it has low level of abstractions which is associated with large data.
I hope I enlighten you with this solution.

Please educate me about Kernel structure?
Hi Priscilla,
What is Kernel? is important foundation in operating system of a computer.  It's main focus is to give standard services to different parts of the OS.  Basically a kernel manages all the request and finished the I/O operations that contend for the kernel's tasks.  A planner that determines which applications share the kernel's working time in what set up. By then it is needed continuously for it was loaded into the protected location of the  storage in the  computer .
How the kernel is organized?  Mostly, there are three (3) kinds of KERNELS
-
Monolithic Kernel
-
Microkernel
-
Hyrid Modular
Those three has it's own disadvantages and advantages, depending on the context of it's own system.  I can say Monolitic kernel is faster than the Microkernel and Hybrid Modular.  It is filled  with subsystems which may not be required  can be corrected to a level where it is quicker than the one that  is specifically created for the hardware. While Microkernel is created for a  particular platform that works only if it is needed to operate. Where in Hybrid Modular basically communicates utilizing some sort of interface module.  It has said to be can work  from within  the modules.  No needed for the rebooting process when ask for testing.
To sum up, there are many kinds of kernel can be used depending on the situation in which they can be used.
Hope this might help you.
Thanks.
