I’m really having a hard time with my Lenovo desktop that has Windows Vista installed on it. Every time the pc starts it keeps giving me the F1 or F2 set up option; I follow the options given and it will just exit without saving the changes. Can you please help me to fix this?
Error upon startup on Windows Vista PC
Hello Kyle,
You are getting that kind of error in windows vista because there might be corrupted partition table, boot sector or master boot record. Other cause maybe incompatible drivers and corrupt registry settings. I suggest you to fix the problem immediately before your system will be corrupted and get hard disk failure.
I recommend you to clean up your registry by visiting the link below:

Error upon startup on Windows Vista PC
Hi Kyle
When the BIOS setup comes up does it ask you to set something like the date and time or any hardware settings. After making the changes did you choose Save and Exit in the Exit options; otherwise your settings will be lost.
If it asked for you to set the time and date and you still get that message after you successfully set the date and time then it must be a problem with your CMOS battery. It could be running low and cannot maintain the time. See whether time is running correctly in the bottom right corner screen.
If the message shows something else, there is a problem in the related hardware or software ad it's settings.

There are many reasons why you are prompted with the F1 and F2 keys on startup. The F1 function key normally works as “Continue”. When you press it, the system will continue booting the computer. The F2 function key is normally configured for the setup. When you press it, you will automatically go to the BIOS to change some settings.
When you are prompted with these keys on startup, check the accompanying message to learn the reason why you are being prompted. In my computer, I am normally prompted with these keys when there is something wrong with the CPU fan.
You will also be prompted with these keys when the CMOS battery is low which you need to replace immediately because you will have problems with the date and time settings. If you are prompted with these keys upon startup and you followed the instructions but nothing happens, one possible reason is the CMOS battery.
Try replacing the CMOS battery with a new one so the settings can be saved properly. When the CMOS battery is low, the settings will become temporary. Even if you set the correct settings on startup, the moment you shut down the computer and unplug it from the power, all those settings will be removed from the BIOS.
And you will be asked for the correct settings again the next time you start the computer. This will happen over and over until you change the CMOS battery.
