I’m confused of what is the correct use of the ADMT v3. I want the domain to be migrated in one of the remote site. Can I just install ADMT v3 directly to that remote site or do I need to uninstall it from the main server first? Can you please tell me what to do? Many thanks.
Question on installing ADMT V3
Hello Kian Griffin,
To install ADMT v3, you will require an SQL server for its underlying data store to be already configured, and then you will need to use SQL server express to install the ADMT v3 on a member server. The requirements for this installation to be successful are as follows:
-
You should use SQL Server 2005 Express Service Pack 3 (SP3) or the latest version.
-
If you are using SQL Server 2008 Express, then it must be Service Pack 1 or the most recent version.
-
In case you choose to use SQLÂ Server Express, then you should make sure that the ADMT console is already installed and it runs locally on the server which is being used to host the SQLÂ Server Express database instance.
You can also choose to use the full versions of SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008, a case which will allow you to install and run the ADMT console on a remote computer as you have asked in the question above. You can also be able to run multiple ADMT consoles on different remote computers that you may be using on your network.
