I preferred to install Avira’s version 8 because I don’t want it to use IPv6 addresses like what version 9 does on Windows XP. I somehow managed to get a hold of the 2010 key code and use it to replace the old one. The GUI shows it worked but one blink and it goes back to being blank.
That means my new key wasn’t installed. Another downside is it’s not possible to make updates on either Product or VDF. Because of that, I updated it manually with the help of an IVDF file. Guard showed an engine error and turned off. Now, I cannot restart it anymore.
Any suggestion will greatly stop me from getting admitted to an asylum.

Well dear according to my knowledge your antivirus copy is outdated and it should be replaced with a new one. But as you said that you do not want to use IPv6 addresses. You should have to follow the following suggestion to get the problem solved.
First of all you make sure that the antivirus is registered
Secondly try to find out auto updates besides trying a manual
Scan your computer via online virus scanner because it looks that there is a virus in your computer which is disturbing your antivirus.

Best of luck
