How can I resize an image?

There are so many ways to resize an image but all of these require a tool for image resizing. The commonly or known tool for image resizing are those graphic editing software like Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop is expensive software or imaging tool but as an alternative to Photoshop, you can use the GIMP which is under the General Public License. You can use also some specialize free tools like XNView to resize an image. XNView is free software which its primary function for image viewing. But is this the best to for image resizing especially when resizing image in bulk or batch processing.

How can I resize an image?

 

You might use different softwares to resize an image so that the down-sized image could be sent to other people via email or posted online.  There are a few major image editors, namely, GIMP, Google Picasa and Adobe Photoshop to resize the images.  Below are the steps. 

 

1. GIMP

Open GIMP and the image. Go ‘Image’ at image toolbar. Choose ‘Scale Image’ and ‘Image Size’, decide the dimensions and lastly choose ‘Scale’.  

 

2. Google Picasa 

Open Picasa and go to location of the image. Double-click the image to open. Then click Export. Drag the bar ‘Resize to’ to reduce the size of image file.  

 

3. Adobe Photoshop 

Open the image and click it. Choose ‘Image Size’ and choose your desired size.  Photoshop users could use pixels as measurement to indicate the size of the image.
