Hi,
My Avast 4 changed the settings for my POP3 and SMTP to 127.0.0.1.
So now I cannot send any new mail message because my email accounts was also changed.
How can I fix it?
Avast! – POP3 and SMTP settings 127.0.0.1
Hi,
It is a good thing that Avast is able to change those settings, for it couldn't then it will not be able to scan your e-mail messages. But it is not supposed to result into any problems with sending or receiving messages.
The following steps will help you resolve the issue that you are getting.
-
First, you will need to exit Outlook Express.
-
And then you will start the Mail Protection Wizard and then choose select "Automatically remove protection from all my accounts".
-
After that you will start Outlook Express.
-
In Outlook Express, you will need to check the server addresses as well as the user name. In case you don´t know the right values, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider and inquire from them.
-
After that you should close Outlook Express, and then Start Mail Protection Wizard again.
-
Next you will choose "Set up the protection manually".
-
And then choose "I don´t use MS Outlook…", and then follow the instructions.
-
When everything is done, you can start Outlook Express again.
-
Note that the addresses for POP and SMTP servers will be changed and your login name modified too, but that will not cause a problem.
Regards,
Carl
